A stately home built as a wedding gift in the 1800's out of blue limestone from a nearby quarry, The Arts Castle serves as the Delaware County Cultural Arts Center. The Castle's name comes from the building's Romanesque architecture which includes turrets and arched windows. A gingko tree brought from China in the 1850's still stands tall in front of the Castle, and the famous Delaware grape was also cultivated there. Today, the Castle hosts classes in numerous areas of the arts. The ballroom, hallways, and parlors are adorned throughout the year with rotating art exhibits from the regional area and beyond. A stop in the Gallery Shop is the perfect ending to a Castle visit and features functional and decorative fine art and craft items (in a wide price range), including jewelry, glass, ceramics, handmade cards, and more. Hours: M-F, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
